Our Teacher

I grew up in Alaska, but currently live in Oregon. My family lives on a farm. All of my children have been, or are homeschooled.  In a, “how well do you know Mom” question and answer session, my children ALL agreed that if you were to state Mom’s favorite topics to study and/or teach, History is number one followed by Science.
I. LOVE. History. It’s in my blood. Literally. My 11th Great Grandparents came over on the Mayflower, and it just gets more involved from there. As a result, I love teaching and inspiring scholars in their quest to make history as well as learn history. I’ve homeschooled for 12 years and taught outside classes for the past 2 years. I love mentoring and watching scholars succeed. My goal as a mentor is to guide scholars through their personal learning processes in the hopes that as we learn history, we won’t repeat the struggles of history.
Two things people would never guess about me? I’m fluent in Russian and I’ve climbed to the top of the highest peak in the contiguous states.
